Well, I didn't do so well again last night. I upped my total from last year by one getting 14 out of 24 correct. There were a few upsets and few I should have just gone with my gut instead of precusor awards. Oh well. I am certainly happy to see Marion Cotillard win. And even knowing the Coens would have a good night, it was great seeing them get their time in the sun this year. It's been a long time coming for them to get this kind of recognition. God knows they deserve it.
It was a rather dull ceremony, I must say. Not really any great surprises except Jon Stewart bringing back one of the winners after she was cut off by the orchestra. And Stewart's jokes weren't bad though there were some really horrid political ones throughout. Still, he moved things along and did not take himself too seriously which is what the job requires.
Another full year till Oscar comes round again. Personally, I need to catch up on those films nominated this year before starting anything like that. But it was an interesting season. One that started with some front-runners that didn't change and a few that did at the last minute. It seems every one got a little bit of gold last night, so I guess that's nice for them. I always kind of like a sweeper. No Country For Old Men took it's fair share but it didn't sweep. I guess that means plenty of good movies. I'll know after I've seen them. That is all.
