Well, it apppears that I am only posting to do afterthoughts at the moment. Just not much else to discuss, really. And I hate to say it, but I don't have much to say about this past Sunday's episode of The Sopranos. It was good, yes...but it did not really move the plot forward so much as place all the markers on the table. John Sacrimoni is now gone and someone will need to step up and take New York. Phil appears to be on the mend and ready to cause some more trouble - either with other New York guys, or Jersey. And the relationship between Tony and Chris is not what it once was. Their hug in the final moments was chilling.
I did enjoy the use of Sydney Pollack as the orderly, though at first I thought he might be a hitman. And the work of Vincent Curatola as he lived his last days was really brilliant. Sad (even though we know who this man is and should not feel sad for him) and fitting for the character's personality - the taking up of smoking again just to feel normal before he dies. I was never as big a fan of this character as many others have been, but now that he is gone, I will surely miss him from the last episodes.
Other than that, I found this to be a very exposition heavy show that followed on the heels of last week's very insular episode. So now we know that Meadow is not with Finn, but not why. And we now know that AJ and Blanca are not the happy couple they were when 6a ended. Phil is better, but still stewing. Paulie's cancer is cured. We need a new boss for New York, but Little Carmine doesn't want it, Gerry the Hair can't have it, and Phil after saying he wasn't able to take it, might have changed his mind.
There will definitely be sparks flying before the last seven are complete. Where it is going, it is difficult to say. I like that we see some Junior next week, as the previews suggest. And I wonder if perhaps we might not see Tony have a thing with Blanca at some point. I guess it's the way that she looks at Tony from time to time, and the subplot with Tony and Chris as it concerns Ade. One (sort of) son has moved away from Tony due to his perceived "cuckolding." Will we see the true son do the same for much the same reason? Call it a hunch, with absolutely nothing to back it up. We'll see. That is all.
