That is, for some people. CNN and CBS were having a very difficult time calling Ohio for Bush, and I don't think they have yet. Neither have some of the other major news services, I suppose, because Kerry is planning to string this out just like 2000. And he does not even have the popular vote tally to back that up, either in Ohio itself or nationally.
Message from me to Kerry - just concede, man. It's over. You lost. Bush won. Can we get back to the business of defeating the people that would like to kill us? Could we somehow put partisanship behind us now and unite once more, as you said we should? Bush won more votes than any other person that has ever run for President (so I have been told). He clearly got a majority, not just a plurality of the raw vote. And he clearly has won Ohio. Please - let this just be over.
I was up until 4am this morning, waiting for him to say something to that effect, and he sent Edwards out instead to say they would keep at it. I suppose it's fair to let them have the chance to realize that it is truly over, but how long does that really take? How long before they see what pretty much every other person in America sees? When the hell are we going to be able to have elections where the loser has some grace? If it's close, it's close. But if it's done, then let it be done. Please. That is all.
