It appears that Yasser Arafat has slipped into a coma and is considered brain-dead. Not much hope that he could come out of that. It would be un-Christian of me to say that I am glad, but I think that it will be a situation that is favorable to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict going forward. Much like Castro has in Cuba, his leadership held onto the last bit of power that kept potential moderates from working with the Israeli leadership. In Oslo, he rejected 99% of what he had been asking for all this time, and after that, he started the latest Intafada. His death will create a vacuum, which can be either good or bad. If filled by another terrorist, then at least we can stop pretending that the Palestinian leader is some nobel prize winning peace-lover. If it is filled with a moderate, then perhaps we can start seeing some positive steps come out of this conflict. A peaceful Israeli/Palestinian situation is a positive step in the global war on Islamic terrorists. I will not dance around and shoot off guns at Arafat's death, but I will say it is probably best for everyone involved. That is all.

Well, some good news is a lot of young Palestinian leaders want someone other than Arafat, and they want a more stable form of government. The main thing they want is reliability, because that's something the Palestinian government doesn't have right now.
Kinda funny how he moved to Paris for it...might be because the best hospitals in his area are in Israel... :D
Oh yeah plus the Palestinians don't allow Israeli medical teams to handle Arabs. If Arafat entered a horrible condition near Israel, he'd probably be hating that rule. Ah the irony.
