It was a rather boring Saturday for college football, I have to say. The VA Tech/NC State game was not bad, and Florida State/Clemson was pretty exciting until FSU started running away with it. Also, I was almost, let me repeat that - almost unhappy to see Alabama lose to Arkansas. I guess the loss of Croyle really will hurt them. With so many teams idle, there was little shake up of the top 25. However, Iowa did lose and I made a few other minor adjusments. Nothing big. Here it is:
1. USC (4-0)
2. Oklahoma (3-0)
3. Miami (3-0)
4. Georgia (3-0)
5. Texas (3-0)
6. West Virginia (4-0)
7. Ohio State (3-0)
8. Auburn (4-0)
9. Tennessee (3-0)
10. Florida State (2-1)
11. LSU (3-1)
12. California (2-0)
13. Florida (2-1)
14. Virginia (4-0)
15. Utah (4-0)
16. Minnesota (4-0)
17. Purdue (3-0)
18. Michigan (3-1)
19. Wisconsin (4-0)
20. Maryland (3-1)
21. Fresno State (3-0)
22. Missouri (2-1)
23. Kansas State (2-1)
24. Boise State (4-0)
25. Oklahoma State (3-0)
A few other teams are close to cracking into this list - Arizona State (4-0), Louisville (3-0) and Southern Miss (2-0). Hell, even Navy is 4-0 to start the season. If they can get by Notre Dame in three weeks, they could break into this list as well.
Next week is huge. GA faces off with LSU, among the many other big games. The real fun of the season will begin, as the cream of the crop begins to rise to the top. It is always so hard to truly determine a teams worth so early in the season. I mean, California is a good team, but with only two games played, how do really know how good they are? Answer is we don't. But we will see. That is all.
