I have not said much about the latest attack add of the campaign because I am waiting for time and investigation to make some sense out of it. However, in the end it really does not matter much other than the fact that Kerry has made his four month service in Vietnam a central role in his campaign. I think this post from Donald Sensing explains it best. The key paragraph,
Yes, I wish both sides would shut up about Vietnam and talk keeping America safe today and tomorrow. But John Kerry has made his Vietnam service the glaring centerpiece of his qualification to secure the country if he wins the election. As long as he does so he has to expect his service to come under the microscope. When he shuts up about Vietnam I will, too. But to allow a candidate - any candidate - to make a credential his primary qualification, and expect that the other side and voters will avert their attention from it, is to live in lala land.
And from this post of Sensing's,
Senator, if it's Vietnam you want, it's Vietnam you get.
Quite. That is all.
