How 'bout them Cubbies? I used to live in Chicago and saw how excited everyone got when they won the playoff game against San Francisco (a game I was at proudly wearing my Braves hat). A tip of the cap to them.
It is going to be a very interesting postseason as there does not appear to be a clear favorite in the bunch. As it progresses, I will give my picks for who will advance to the next round.
For the division series, I looks to stack up like this:
NL
Chicago over Atlanta in 4 games
San Francisco over Florida in 5 games
AL
New York over Minnesota in 3 games
Boston over Oakland in 5 games
I think pitching will carry the Cubs but not the Marlins and New York but not the A's (The final hurrah for Clemens). Boston's offense will be the key to their series, but I just don't think Atlanta will be able to utilize theirs against Baker's incredible arms. Besides, it has tailed off as the season has drawn to the finish line and I just don't trust Smoltz's arm after he blew that save yesterday. As I said yesterday, things are shaping up to what could be a classic World Series between Boston and Chicago. Curses, smerses - the Cubs get to the Series and the Sox finally win the damn thing! Bank on it. That is all.
