The chilly cold canvas,
Covered in ice and hard as a rock.
Inhospitable and uninviting -
No life seems apparent.
Frozen, lonely and isolated.
Then comes the sun and a promise of a new day...
And the thaw follows.
Life begins to bubble under the surface, struggling to make itself known.
Animal instinct has such a larger playground
And what once held no hope for active action
Now finds more than what seems possible.
The change is sudden and even frightening,
But that is the thaw.
Though it takes some getting used to,
I'll accept its warm embrace.

Commentary: I don't really have any commentary right now other than to say I've written a few new pieces and so why not use them to pad the old blog that's not getting much action otherwise. Enjoy. That is all.
